Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains which personal data we collect when you visit our website, buy a subscription and use Plaudan Kids, how we use it, with whom we share it and which rights you have. Plaudan Kids is a language learning service for children. It is set up and paid for by a parent or legal guardian ("parent"), who also provides the details about the child.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

The controller for your personal data is KLDigital OG, Selzergasse 21, 1150 Vienna, Austria ("we", "us"), registered at the Vienna Commercial Court under number 489056a.

For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at office@plaudan.com.

2. Personal data we collect

Data the parent gives us: email address, chosen plan, country, currency and language; for each child a first name or nickname, age range, gender, the language to learn, the mother tongue, the level, learning goals, daily learning time, interests and the chosen animal friend.

Data created when the child uses the Service: audio of what the child says to the animal friend while speaking, text transcripts of the conversations, short stored voice samples, the scenes played, learning progress, practised minutes, and ratings or comments given after a session.

Purchase data: subscription, plan, start and renewal dates, payment status and invoices. Card and bank details are entered directly with our payment provider and never reach us.

Data collected automatically: IP address, approximate location derived from it (country), device and browser type, operating system, pages visited, time of access, the website or advertisement you came from and the advertising parameters in that link, and identifiers from cookies and similar technologies.

Communication: when you write to us, your name, email address and the content of your message.

3. How we use your data and our legal basis

To provide the Service (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, performance of the contract): creating and managing the account and child profiles, sign-in, running the spoken conversations, adapting them to the child's language, level and interests, saving progress, processing payments and sending service emails such as sign-in links, purchase confirmations and important notices about the subscription.

To improve the Service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in a reliable, high-quality service): finding and fixing errors, evaluating how features are used, and improving speech recognition and the quality of the conversations, including with stored voice samples and transcripts.

To measure and improve our advertising (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, your consent, and § 165(3) TKG 2021): finding out which of our ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. Where consent is required, we only do this with it, and you can withdraw it at any time.

To meet legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): keeping invoices and accounting records, and answering requests from authorities where we are obliged to.

To protect our rights and the Service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): preventing misuse and fraud and handling legal claims.

4. Children

Plaudan Kids is meant to be used by children, but only through an account created by a parent. The parent decides which details about the child are stored and can change or delete them at any time. Please only enter what is needed, for example a nickname instead of a full name.

Children do not provide contact details to us and cannot buy anything inside the app. The animal friends are designed for age-appropriate conversations.

To improve speech recognition we keep short voice samples of the child's utterances (at most about 20 seconds each) together with their transcript on servers in the European Union. Parents can ask us at any time to delete these samples; they are also deleted when the account is deleted.

Replies of the animal friends are generated automatically by artificial intelligence. They do not lead to any decision with legal effect for you or your child.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Strictly necessary: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and a cookie that remembers the currency shown to you. In your browser's local storage we keep technical settings, the selected child profile and the advertising parameters of the link you arrived with.

Analytics and advertising: our analytics and advertising partners set cookies or similar identifiers to measure how the website is used and whether our ads lead to sign-ups and purchases. Where the law requires consent for this, we only use them with your consent.

6. Advertising

We advertise Plaudan Kids on social networks and other online platforms. To measure and improve these campaigns we and our advertising partners use the data described above, for example whether a visitor signed up or bought a subscription after seeing an ad. For this we may share online identifiers and, in hashed (encrypted) form, the email address with these partners, also from our server. Our partners may use this information to show our ads to people with similar interests.

We also store the advertising parameters of the link you arrived with (such as the campaign and the ad) with your account so that we can see which of our ads brought a purchase.

You can limit interest-based advertising in the settings of the platforms you use, in your device settings (for example "Limit Ad Tracking" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization") and on www.youronlinechoices.eu.

7. Who we share data with

Service providers that process data on our behalf and only on our instructions, bound by data processing agreements: hosting and cloud infrastructure, database and file storage, speech recognition, speech synthesis and artificial intelligence, payment processing, email delivery, analytics and affiliate tracking.

Advertising partners, as described in section 6, where you have consented.

Professional advisers such as tax advisers and lawyers, where needed.

Authorities, courts and law enforcement, where we are legally obliged to or where it is necessary to protect our rights.

A buyer or investor in the case of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, limited to what is needed and under confidentiality.

We do not sell your personal data.

8. International transfers

Our servers, database and storage are located in the European Union. Some of our service providers are based in, or may access data from, countries outside the European Economic Area, in particular the United States. In these cases we make sure that an adequate level of protection exists, either through an adequacy decision of the European Commission (including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for certified recipients) or through the EU standard contractual clauses (Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR).

9. How long we keep your data

We keep account, child profile and learning data for as long as the account exists. When a subscription ends we keep the account so that the family can come back; you can ask us to delete it at any time. Email addresses entered in the sign-up process without a purchase are deleted once they are no longer needed for that purpose. Invoices and accounting records are kept for seven years as required by Austrian law. Technical log data is kept only for a short time unless it is needed to investigate a security incident.

10. Security

We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, such as encrypted connections, access restrictions and separate storage of the voice samples. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep the risk as low as possible.

11. Your rights

You have the right to access your data and receive a copy, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, to restrict its processing, to data portability and to object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 15 to 21 GDPR). Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect processing that took place before. Parents exercise these rights for their children.

To exercise your rights, write to office@plaudan.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We answer within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde, Barichgasse 40-42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at; you can also contact the authority of the country you live in.

12. Additional information for California residents

If you live in California, you have the right to know which categories of personal information we collect and why (described above), to request access to and deletion of your personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information for money. Sharing online identifiers with advertising partners to measure our ads may be considered "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law; you can opt out by writing to office@plaudan.com. We do not knowingly sell or share personal information of children under 16.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when our Service or the law changes. The current version is always available on plaudan.com with the date of the last update. If we make significant changes, we will inform account holders by email or in the Service.
